Foreign citizens can be married in the church if one of the parties is a member of the Danish national curch or another recognized religious community and if the conditions for marriage are fulfilled.
If you wish to be married in the Danish national church you must apply to the Vicar or the Episcopal office of the church in which you wish to be married. A date and time will then be set and you will be informed about the details of the wedding itself. After the wedding ceremony the priest will issue your marriage certificate.
The church wedding may also take place in one of the recognized religious communities, provided proof that one of the parties belong to the religious community in question.
You can also be wedded in another religious community if one of the parties is a member of that religious community and if the priest of that community has obtained authorization from the Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs to do this wedding.
The wedding ceremony takes a half an hour to an hour.
