Remarks:


We advise you to start the procedure at least 2 weeks in advance.

US-divorce decrees do not always meet the requirements of the Danish law. An additional statement from the court house in the USA must be provided.

For Americans: The “final judgement” has to show, that “no appeal has been and can be made to a higher court”, and that you are free to remarry.

For Germans or EU Citizens: The divorce decree has to show the stamp of the court and the word “Rechtskräftig”.

For Non - EU Citizens: The divorce decree has to be translated into either English, German or Danish and legalized from the Ministry of Foreign affairs and the local Danish Embassy.
